HomeRoom started with a simple frustration: running a classroom meant juggling a dozen browser tabs, sticky notes, and half-finished tools that were never made for the people actually standing in front of students. So a teacher built the one he wished he had.
Every tool in HomeRoom exists because a real classroom needed it — not because it looked good in a feature list.
Hi, I'm Jeff — currently in my 20th year teaching elementary school. I know exactly what it feels like to have 15 tabs open by 7:30 AM, so I started building a calmer workspace for my own room. When colleagues saw it, they wanted in.
HomeRoom is designed, built, and run by a teacher in Nova Scotia, Canada. That means decisions get made the way they would in a staff room, not a boardroom: keep it fast, keep it calm, and never get between a teacher and their class.
The ideas that shape every decision — and that you can verify in our privacy promise, not just our marketing.
On the free plan your classroom data stays on your device, protected with AES-GCM encryption. No ads. No data mining. We never sell your email, your rosters, or your habits — to anyone.
HomeRoom is a tool for the teacher. Students don't create accounts, so we don't knowingly collect information from children. You decide what goes on the screen — first names, initials, or pseudonyms.
While AI features are in the works for a future Pro tier, they will always remain completely optional. If you choose not to use them, your data will never touch an AI provider. If you do, we'll only send the absolute minimum data required - nothing more.
Every tool is free, forever — no trials, no locked-away basics. Pro is $20 a year for cloud backup and sync, and founders keep that price for life. That's the whole pricing page.
HomeRoom is based in Nova Scotia, and Pro cloud data is encrypted at rest on secure servers located in Canada. If anything ever compromised your account, we'd tell you within 72 hours — in line with Canadian privacy regulations.
